Pocket Full of Miracles

My co-worker is one of the sweetest and most eccentric people that you'll ever meet but she is a little oblivious to certain things.  One of my fondest "Miss Jane" encounters involved a conversation about khaki pants. Another co-worker and I were talking at the Ref Desk about the inevitability of getting a new pair of khaki pants dirty while working at the library when "Miss Jane" walked up and joined in on the conversation.  She said "I've had these khaki pants for at least five years and they're my favorite pair of pants but the only thing I don't like about them is that they don't have any pockets."

I looked over and noticed a little chain hanging down the side seam of her pants so I asked her if they zipped up the sides and she in turn lifted the front of her shirt to show me her fly and said "Nope, they zip up the front."  So I asked her what is that little chain for?  She still didn't know what I was talking about so I reached over and pulled down on the chain.  She stuck her hand down to feel it and pushed it inside of what appeared to be a small pocket in the side of her pants.  She said "Hmm. I've never noticed that before."

I asked her if there was another one on the other side and instead of just reaching her hand down to feel for it she spun around like a dog chasing its tail so I could look at the other side of her pants and there it was, as plan as day, another little chain just like the other side had.  I pointed it out to her and she unzipped it and stuck her hand inside to discover yet another little pocket inside her pants. Amazed and elated at her new discovery, "Miss Jane" proceeded to run around the library relating the miraculous tale of her missing pockets (after five years of wash and wear) to anyone who would listen.
