To Dot or Not To Dot

Color coding systems are supposed to help you with shelving a collection, right?  Apparently our children's librarian didn't get that memo.  I find it extremely annoying when I journey into that department to retrieve an item wanted for Interlibrary Loan and I can't find what I'm looking for on the shelf.

When the new children's librarian started a few years ago she went about re-organizing the collection. Now there are multi-colored dots and specialty labels for all the books.  The only problem is... she didn't include the changes in the online catalog so it just says that a book is juvenile, easy, or young adult.  It doesn't tell you that it's located in a special display section. I guess she was trying to circumvent the technical services department but it makes our lives and the patrons lives so much harder when things are not shelved according to the DDC.
